Woops! I Forgot! July Birthstone: Ruby
1 08 2007
It happens from time to time and this time I am going to blame it on too much summer sun (and fun!) but I totally forgot to share with you about July’s birthstone, the ruby! Rubies come from all over the world but good gemstones are found at Thailand, India, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, North Carolina in the U.S., Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Tanzania, Kampuchea, and perhaps most notably, Burma. Large rubies are harder to find than large diamonds, emeralds and sapphires. As a result, rubies’ value increases with size more than any other gemstone. In the Orient, rubies were once believed to contain the spark of life — “a deep drop of the heart’s blood of Mother Earth”, according to ancient Eastern legends.
You can get your own spark with the huge and fabulous 12 1/6 carat ruby and diamond white gold ring pictured above! It has a big price tag at $1,295.00 but it’s an investment worth making. This piece features a brilliant and unique design and is part of a one of a kind collection. Studded with dozens of rubies and diamonds and set in 18k white gold, this ring is joyful and truly special.
