Dear Leslie,
I inherited an antique platinum and diamond pin from my grandmother. I am having trouble finding earrings to go with it. What would you recommend?

I’ve received many notes from people having similar problems pairing jewelry from our grandmothers’ era to our less formal lives today. Sadly, many of these beautiful pieces end up sitting in a jewelry box unused.

First, take your vintage jewelry to an experienced jeweler to make sure the clasp and settings are in good shape. Then take a look at the style of the piece. Many pins from the early 20th century have a compact floral, starburst, or swirl design.
