Jewelry for a Toddler

26 02 2006

Dear Leslie,
My niece will be turning two soon and she is already such a little lady that I would like to get her a piece of jewelry for her birthday, but I don’t know what is appropriate for that age group.

Charm BraceletBuying jewelry for a toddler can often be a tricky business because there are many youngsters who pull off anything you put on them. On the other hand, there are also two year olds who love to wear jewelry and look grown-up and sophisticated. I assume that your niece falls into the second category. If that is the case, I would suggest this adorable gold charm bracelet or this pretty gold and pearl necklace. Necklace

The charm bracelet is my top choice because it is both jewelry and a toy, to which your niece can continue collecting charms as long as it fits her. The necklace is a more sophisticated piece of jewelry and I would only given it to a very mature two-year old as it is not the sort of thing one would like to see ripped off and discarded. On the other hand, if your niece truly is mature and into jewelry this necklace will really make her feel grown-up.Alphabet Bracelet

A truly safe bet when buying jewelry for a toddler is this beautiful gold alphabet bracelet which has a clasp that can only be undone by a well-coordinated, older person. This makes it safe for even the wildest youngster, without sacrificing its style.

Happy birthday to your niece Carol, and best wishes for many years of happiness and good jewelry.
